The Gobshite 2025
£17.50
Cheeky by name, charming by nature. A fresh, fruity Chenin blend that doesn’t take itself too seriously — because life’s too short for boring wine.
Description
Named after the trouble our winemaking gets us into as much as the trouble it gets us out of — this is the wine you pour when you don’t want to take yourself too seriously. A bright, chattering blend of Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne off the Doran estate in Voor Paardeberg, it opens with white flowers, ripe peach and lemon zest, with pear and a gentle mineral freshness close behind. The palate is fresh and well-rounded — the Chenin brings the citrus snap, the Grenache Blanc a touch of dried apricot sweetness, and the Roussanne rounds it all off with a bit of weight and swagger. Cheeky, charming, and doesn’t outstay its welcome.
Pairs with: nothing too formal — good with grilled linefish, roast chicken, or simply on its own on a stoep at sundown.
Modelled by Peter, Senior Cellar Hand.
