This is a soulful, layered blend of Shiraz and Merlot, matured in oak for texture and a bit of spice, showing black fruit, warm spice, and a long, smooth finish. It’s more considered than a big warm-climate red has any right to be — refined rather than showy, with real depth underneath the good humour of the name.
Pairs with: grilled lamb, slow-cooked beef, smoked meats, hard cheeses, or a proper shepherd’s pie.
